WORD is thrilled to welcome Mohamed Hassan to Ōtautahi to launch his new book at the festival. Mohamed is known for his award-winning journalism around islamophobia and counter-terrorism, and his most recent podcast series tackles community grief following the Christchurch mosque attacks. As a poet he has toured his work internationally, and his work has been shared widely online and taught in hundreds of schools.
Mohamed’s new collection, National Anthem, published by Dead Bird Books, explores themes of displacement, nationalism and mental health. He is joined by special guests Dominic Hoey, Daisy Speaks and Dietrich Soakai to celebrate its launch.
Foundation will be open for food and drink, all welcome.
COVID-19 update. Ticket allocation is for the current Alert Level. If there is a change back to Level 2 at the time of the festival, tickets booked under the original Level 2 requirements will be given preference.
