Colin McCahon was regarded as New Zealand’s greatest twentieth-century artist. Leading McCahon scholar, writer and curator Peter Simpson has published his epic two-volume biography, Colin McCahon: There is Only One Direction (1919–1959) and Colin McCahon: Is This the Promised Land (1960–1987). He discusses, in conversation with art consultant Grant Banbury, the evolution of McCahon’s work and life over his long career.
